Motion Graphics: Logo

Image
Animation Original Post Critique Reflection Learning After Effects was a bit challenging. I had experience in video editing software so I somewhat knew what I was doing, but there is a lot different in After Effects compared to traditional video editing softwares. I had to search up a lot of videos, learning how to do certain effects or actions and some of them I had practiced or tried to recreate but they either failed or I found that it wasn't what I wanted to include in my animation. When it came to the creative process, I wanted to embrace the pen like font I used in my logo so I decided to go with strokes for each movement to slowly make up the logo. Originally I wanted it to invert colors and leave that as the end but after critiques, I was able to build upon the animation more. I ended up removing the flashing of the logo parts, and made a slow gradient to color in order to add some more flare. I was out for student critique but I know it would've helped me out on what...

Motion Graphics

Reflection The goal I have for my animation is to animate the script of my personal through brush strokes, to write out Tor. When writing out the storyboard I planned to separate it into 9 frames spanning 10 seconds with it slowly being written and each individual part requiring at least one frame to be written out. I then planed for the next frame to have potentially a flash where the text color shifts from black to white and the background shifts from white to black. I was also thinking about giving it a glow effect but I am not too sure if I want to continue with the idea. I plan to use after effects in order do this mainly to challenge myself but also because I feel like this application has everything that I need in order to achieve animating this goal. I will research on youtube and online how to do the brush strokes or anything that could be useful to what I want to do for my animation.

Motion Graphics Tutorial

Motion Graphics Tutorial      Both adobe animate and adobe after effects are useful tools for creating motion graphics which are used a lot. Animate is more on the animation side, creating 2d animation and creating graphics and vectors animated using tween. It can't really do that much 3d graphics and can't render those graphics moving. After effects is used for 2d and 3d graphics on a video, allowing for camera angles and videos to be used in order to aid in animating the graphics. It can't do that much video editing but for motion graphics, that isn't really an issue. I personalized the tutorials by adding a flag to the animation in animate and toned down the opacity of the transition in after effects.      I plan to use adobe after effects for 2 main reasons. Firstly, I have experience with video editing software such as iMovie, Capcut, and VN video editor which have similar layouts and some of the functions that after effects do. That prior knowl...

College and Career Fair

Colleges I Investigated Pace University I liked that I got to get more information from them besides what I learned from the field trip I went on. I got information about computer science and how it is one of the mist popular majors and is offered at both campuses. The tuition was around 50k a year which to me is a huge amount. I'd like to live where I am now as it's only in the city so its not that bad.  Cooper Union I learned that they offer a computer science summer workshop that is paid that I liked and am actually interested in going to.  For tuition I didn't ask as I didn't have much time and then forgot to ask later. I'd like to live where I am now as it's only in the city so its not that bad.  NYIT I learned that it is a private school that offers computer science in New York City and that caught my attention. For tuition it was about 40k which like pace, is quite a lot. I'd like to live where I am now as it's only in the city so its not that ba...

Refining My Logo

Image
Why The Final Works      Out of all of these designs, I feel like the 5th design which is at the bottom left is my favorite. This is because it is one of the only ones where I feel like the line around the Tor actually connects well and I also like how the color gradient worked and the deep blue to light purple I like a lot. I feel like it works the best as the final because it looks both clean and professional which is what I was going for with the Tor design and the tighter spacing works better with the font and doesn't affect the way you interpret the design. I think it also stands out the most compared to the other designs with my eyes gravitating towards that last design in specific rather than the other designs. I din't spend the most time on the design but it looks like there was a lot of effort made to make the design like that in which did happen when making the design. It also represents the track I was going for the best which I just unintentionally real...

Five Digital Logo Comps Reflection

Image
5 Digi Roughs 1 2 3 4 5 Reflection I was pretty happy with the way my digi roughs had come out. I decided to do one design that I liked for each one of the names. I had a couple issues while making these designs though, firstly I couldn't find the right font for Eric so I found a different one but used the same design. Secondly, for Eric Torres I wrote it in my normal hand writing so I had to choose a font that I'd like to represent the design. Thirdly, the line I made on Tor I wasn't really happy about but I am not all that bothered by it since its a rough. I like the designs though as I found a nice font for Eric and both the ET and Torres came out well and the way I liked. I feel like I could still improve on these designs more as I move from roughs to finals. I also had to understand how to use the direct selection tool and create outline in order to make both ET and Torres look more connected and nice rather than it looking like it was sloppily attached the E and T.
